The Sweet and Fluffy Cotton Candy

By Michael Russell The origins of cotton candy are unclear and the inventor of this confection cannot be pinpointed. However, four people have been identified and named as the inventors of the candy and they are William Morrison, Thomas Patton, Josef Delarose Lascaux and John C. Wharton. William Morrison and John Wharton were two candy makers from Tennessee. They invented the first electric cotton candy machine and were given the patent for the cotton candy machine in the year 1899. This machine made cotton candy by melting sugar and using centrifugal force to spin the sugar and force them through tiny holes before releasing them. When they received the patent, the pair brought and presented the machine to the 1904 St. Louis World Fair. On the other hand, Thomas Patton was experimenting with caramelized sugar and used a fork to form them into threads. He then designed a machine that utilized a gas-fired rotating plate that would spin the sugar and form them into threads. These threads were then collected and formed into a big cotton ball which is now called cotton candy. He presented the machine at the Ringling Brothers' Circus where it was a hit and sold like popcorn to children. He received a separate patent for his machine and his process for making cotton candy in 1900. Around the same time, Josef Delarose Lascaux, was a dentist in the state of Louisiana who introduced cotton candy in his dental clinic. He, however, did not receive a patent or trademark for his cotton candy unlike the other three. The early patented machines were found to be defective and did not last long. Some machines would break while others made loud rattling noises. The Gold Medal Products company came up with a more dependable cotton candy machine that used a spring base. This new machine contributed to the transformation of the cotton candy industry. Cotton candy is a huge hit because it is very simple to make. The process of making it is different from the usual way candy is made. In cotton candy, sugar is melted until it is in a liquid state. The liquid sugar is then spun in the cotton candy machine. Using centrifugal force, the machine forces the liquid through and out of tiny holes. These holes form the sugar into threads and cool the liquid sugar. Once the threads of sugar are cooled, they become solid again. Afterwards, the center of the machine is full of thousands of tiny threads of sugar that are then collected by a stick. The threads adhere to the stick and the ball grows bigger as the threads stick to more threads. It is then shaped into a ball and served. Sometimes, the ball is stuffed into a plastic bag with the stick removed. Some stalls offer other flavored cotton candy and others may even give you toppings like milk powder to go with it. Nowadays, cotton candy machines and stalls are found everywhere. You can see them in amusement parks, fairs, playgrounds and circuses. Even though its history has left a lot to be debated about, it doesn't really matter to the consumers. To them, it is still a summertime favorite because it is light, sweet and fluffy. just the way they like it. Prepaid SIM Card for UK

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney Whether you are traveling to UK on business or pleasure, do not forget to take your mobile with you along-with a prepaid SIM card for UK. You will not require signing of any contract with your service provider to buy or rent such a card. It is the most convenient and economical solution to keep in touch with your people while you are in UK. With your SIM card for UK, you not only get a local number but also pay local rates, which even include unlimited free incoming calls from anywhere in the world. For your next trip to UK, make sure that you buy a SIM card for UK and carry your unlocked GSM phone with you. Check if your phone is a quad band GSM handset, for if it is not, that phone will not work in UK. It is the most economical way to be in touch with your family, friends and business associates. Traditionally you would roam with your current phone in UK, which would be a very expensive proposition. Just by buying a SIM for UK, you can avoid all those roaming charges. Consider those days when you had to make calls from your hotel room and the charges you paid for those calls. When you compare that with that of a pre-paid SIM card for UK, you will be surprised with the kind of savings that you have. Like most of the countries in the world, UK has opted for Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technology for their mobile operation. GSM systems are used in nearly 200 countries having over 600 million subscribers worldwide. GSM is a part of the world wireless evolution, embracing all areas of technology, providing digital clear communication in global seamless wireless services. It hardly matters where you are in UK. You are always connected with the prepaid SIM card, which will allow calling for dinner reservations, calling your friends, and finding out the railway timings or the hours to a museum. The card provides you with low UK call rates for the calls you make and even saves you the roaming charges, if you should decide to call international. The card allows free incoming calls from any part of the world. A prepaid SIM card is the one which goes into your handset. It requires an upfront payment for the credit that you would want for making your calls and sending text messages or availing other value-added services. Since it is prepaid you will never receive a bill at the end of the month. The SIM card that you buy will carry a talk time value, and you would need to re-charge that as and when you are about to finish the free talk time allocated to you. You can either buy enough credit for your calls from your provider before you leave for UK, or you may buy the re-charge vouchers, to be used as and when you require your credit to be topped up when you are already in UK. You may also choose to buy such vouchers from UK or use the facility to buy the recharge on phone. A prepaid SIM card for UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), with your quad band GSM phone, is the most convenient and economical proposition to have when you visit that country. All incoming calls that you receive are free, regardless where they originate from. Unlike home, your SIM card for UK is prepaid, so you do not get a bill at the end of the month, nor you sign any contract with your service provider. The next step is to activate the SIM card in your mobile phone. A general procedure is given below, which is just for guidance and your service provider should be able to let you have detailed instruction on these: Make sure you have the re-charge vouchers, providing you enough credit to last your stay in England. These you can buy in the UK at any tobacco shop. Make sure that you have with you a tri or quad band GSM phone. At any time, before or after you reach Britain, insert your pre-paid SIM card for the UK into your GSM mobile handset. Place a call to activate your service. You are now connected. If you are traveling to UK and you have your current mobile handset with you, be warned that you cannot use your handset in UK, unless your phone is a GSM tri-band handset. It should be in unlocked state and compatible with the network bandwidth in UK. An alternative is to rent a GSM handset from planetomni.com, which is by far the best economical solution for you, for, you can avail the same service as the Brit does. Cell phone use overseas. In 99% of the world the local cellular service standard is called GSM. We use this in the states as well. When combined with a SIM CARD (which usually goes under the battery of the phone) the phone is able to communicate and the SIM CARD also holds the telephone number and memory for pre-paid credit. Rates can be extremely low using this system. For example in 99% of all SIM CARDS incoming calls are free and calls to the states can cost a trifle. Such as, from the UK to the USA 7 cents/minute, from Israel 22 cents, from Australia 27 cents. Yes, USA Dollar cents! There are today even prepaid service providers in the USA offering rates of 10 cents per minute to call anywhere in the US to any type of phone. No contracts, no credit card checks, no bills. Pre-paid always means no minimums no contracts, no obligations. You only pay for the calls made. You'll need an unlocked GSM tri-band or quadband UNLOCKED phone. You can buy factory unlocked phones and sim cards for more than 170 or the 193 countries on earth from http://www.planetomni.com Tel. # 800-514-2984 Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney http://EzineArticles.com/?Prepaid-SIM-Card-for-UK&id=290078 online loan source free money grants for house loans international loan agencies with personal loans for caribbean no credit check and sprint wireless

Appreciation for the Entrepreneurship Skill with Business Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Steve_C_Clark]Steve C Clark A business is a continuity of dealings. The continuity of dealings would also require a continuity of funds. Though a successful business maintains sufficient funds for meeting with this need, there are some emergencies, which they might not have thought of. Business loans create funds for these very unexpected needs. Does it look similar to the emergencies that you as an individual would come across? Yes it is, but there is a basic difference. While you as an individual can delay the satisfaction of your needs, the business cannot. For the business it will mean a loss of millions of pounds. With business loans available, at least the loss or the apprehension of any such loss can be put on the backburner. Business loans are easily accessible for businesses, whatever their size or their area of operation. While the financial emergencies are a common reason for business loans, the funds can also be put to use when the business owner wants to expand its operations, buy machinery and use the proceeds as working capital. Business loans are available for all such expenditures. Many banks and financial institutions offer business loans. But these often require a large number of formalities to be completed. The banks too cannot advance millions of funds without checking the credentials of the borrower. An easier method of securing funds are the online brokers. Online brokers act as a bridge between borrowers and lenders. The borrowers may apply for business loans from the comforts of their home or office. The brokers will then carefully study the borrowers application and then forward it to lenders who can best complete the borrowers requirements. When you are searching online for business loans, you are able to undertake comparison of loans more easily. There are hundreds of deals advertised on the internet. One can easily go through the internet and check if the terms being offered by lenders to borrowers with circumstances similar to theirs are competitive. Compare any business loan deal through an overall basis and not get stuck upon the rate of interest. The credit circumstances of the borrower are as important when opting for business loans. The business owner must have a good credit history preferably. For drawing larger amounts, having a good credit history becomes more important. But borrowers who have bad credit history are not altogether refused loan. When searching online or through loan brokers, you have more chances to secure business loans and at competitive rates. How to Care for Your Diamond Ring

By Yaghtin Afshin Congratulations! Youre getting married and now have a lot of planning ahead of you. However dont forget to take care of the one thing that started all of this. Not your fiance, your diamond ring! Your diamond ring is a timeless piece of beauty that needs special care. It is important to always remember that everything you touch during the day can affect your diamond. Hand soap, hair gel, dishwashing liquid and lotions are among the worst offenders. They leave a film on your ring that can build up over time if not properly cleaned. Always make sure your ring sparkles as bright as you do by following these four rules: 1. Soak your diamond ring in a solution of warm water and a mild liquid detergent. 2. Use a soft brush, after the ring has soaked, to remove dirt. Be very careful in your choice of a brush, as anything with stiff brushes can scratch the metal setting. It is better to scrub your diamond in the solution than to lift it up and scrub it out of water. 3. Rinse the ring thoroughly in warm water. If necessary, to dry, place in a small strainer or sieve. 4. Dry the ring with a lint free cloth. While these are necessary steps to ensuring long lasting luster in your ring, there are other important rules to remember. Always remove your ring when doing housework, yard work, or in any other situations where you will be in contact with cleansers and chemicals. Never wear your ring during contact sports, or any other vigorous activity. Remember, it may look great on your hand at the gym, but even free weights held gently can scratch the metal. Also remember to have your ring appraised and ensured because of its value! With this as your guide, you can ensure a brilliant future for your ring. Afshin Yaghtin graduated as an English major at UCLA and furthered his education at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth with a M.A. in postmodern American literature before starting his own business at Wedding-Band-Ring.Com. He lives in California with his wife and 3 adorable, rambunctious kids. Nostalgia, Tips and Things

By Jo Godden The tips have started rolling in - (and a dose of nostalgia with them). An unusual one from Mrs Lewis of Wiltshire. She used her old tights (legs only) for crocheting bath mats, and, whilst the crocheting bug was still with her, used up the rest of her old tights by treating the dog to a new cover for the inside of its basket. As she says - "it is simple to wash and quick to dry". She crochets these circles along the same lines as we used to make shoulder handbags. Do you remember them ladies? We used to crochet two matching circles plus a long narrow strip and then join the circles to the strip and hey presto! a bag which was very fashionable at the time . . . And as everything comes round in circles, they will no doubt one day be fashionable again. Come to think of it, the same bag created out of old tights/stockings would make a very useful 'peg bag', one which you could sling over your shoulder and so leave the hands free for hanging out the washing. Crocheting As soon as Mrs L mentioned 'crocheting with fabric', my mind immediately flipped back to my childhood. I can remember my friends' mothers and also grandmothers sitting together, chatting, and at the same time pushing strips of old woollen cloth into a sacking backing (with a special metal dibber) and then pulling the same strip towards them. The result was a closely woven 'shag style' rug with an approx. 2" pile, often of a beautiful and intricate design. Of course, the children weren't allowed to be idle and they were roped in to cut up old woollen coats, skirts, etc. into 4" x l" strips. Most families were content with the making of just a fireside rug which could be taken up, thrown over the washing line and given its once-a-week beating, but my friend's mother had ambition and the whole family (including the six children) spent the winter evenings making a rug which when completed filled the whole of the living room. (I think she must have been the Mrs Bouquet of her day). This was the first time that I had seen a fitted carpet and Oh! what bliss! as we rolled around on it. Not very hygienic of course with six children, two dogs, cats and friends playing on it, and as it was too heavy for its weekly 'lift' and was therefore only moved for its 'once-a-year' spring clean, it probably had a few more additions to the family, living and growing in it. Well, we didn't have vacuum cleaners, health visitors, etc, but didn't we have fun? It was such a change from the usual cold lino with just the obligatory rug in front of the fire and often that was made of hard coconut matting, which was not exactly child friendly. (You didn't have to play outside to get a grazed knee you could get it by playing inside on the coconut matting.) Perhaps that is why most of the games were played at the family table, as the cold lino was not the place to play during the cold winter evenings. Isn't it funny how times have changed? Now, the focal point of any living/family room is the TV and, then, the large family table dominated the room. In fact, it was often half the size of the living room as it had to accommodate large families (several of my friends had six or eight siblings) and of course they all sat down together for meals Living rooms Note that I have mentioned 'living rooms' - the word 'lounge' had not yet arrived in the family vocabulary. Lounges as far as our young ears could determine were rather dubious places in pubs and hotels, places where good girls didn't frequent. Isn't it funny also how actual words come in and go out of fashion. I think lounge has done the complete circle now. The working class front room/sitting room became the estate agents' upmarket 'spacious lounge' and now the word 'lounge' is considered a 'no, no' and we are back to the estate agents' 'large, airy living room/sitting room', etc. And, can you remember when 'sofas' suddenly went upmarket and became 'settees', and now 'settee' is downmarket and it's back to 'sofa'? Which reminds me - last week I mentioned the word 'anorak' to my grandchildren, and they looked at me blankly and asked 'what's an anorak?' I wonder if the pre-anorak word 'windcheater' will make a comeback. Hope so, it was such an apt name and we could certainly do with a 'wind cheater' at the moment! All these memories from just one tip. Hope the above has evoked happy childhood memories for you also, but unfortunately all these meanderings means that I am out of space .. but, watch this space and join me for the rest of the tips . 7 Mysterious Ways of Women And How To Understand Her

By Cucan Pemo There are a lot of men who mistake some of the ways that their girlfriend or wife will conduct themselves. It's hard to understand both sexes because they don't think alike. Women think more with their heart and feelings, while men tend to think about logic and reality. After you read this, you will be able to better understand your mate and you will be able to have better and stronger relationship. 1) The Confusing Silence Men assume that if women are not talking then they must be mad, however that is not always the case. The silent treatment is given a lot after arguments; however, it does not always mean that silence is a key tip that she is mad. First, sometimes women just need some time where they can just relax. After you have a hard day at work, all you want to do is read a book, watch some TV, or just sit in silence. That does not mean that she is mad. It may mean things like she is tired, she wants to relax, she wants to be by herself, but it is not always about the people around her. 2) Obsessive cleaning You will notice that your girlfriend or wife is cleaning and really scrubbing the dishes, however, it may seem like she is mad or frustrated. Some women do obsessively clean when they are frustrated, but there are many women who just like to be clean. Cleaning to women has nothing to do with relationships or how they see you. Not all women feel the need to clean up because their mate won't or that their mate is messy. Sometimes a woman will just get in the mood to clean. 3) Fighting Have you ever come home with a seemingly happy day and just end up getting yelled at by your lady. You may think that she is really unhappy with you, but the truth is that you're not the problem. You will find that things in her day will make her feel awful and with you seeming happy would be when the saying "misery loves company" comes into play. The next time she jumps you before you even kick off your shoes, maybe you should take a moment to ask her what it really is about. 4) Her confusing behavior of crying Women have so much emotion in them; they have to cry every now and then and do not take it personally. Something that you do or do not do may set them off, but it is usually not about you. It can be a lot things all balled up inside her. You may come home to your wife or girlfriend sitting in the dark crying, however, it is not always about anything. Women just need to cry. Some have a schedule where they watch sad movies and they have a good cry. It is usually nothing personal; just ask her if there is anything you can do or not do and make her a cup of tea. 5) Nagging You may think that your woman is always on your case all day long, however, there is something underneath the obvious that is bothering her. The first thing that you are going to want to ask her is what this fit is really about. Ask her about her day, ask her about her mother, ask her about anything that might have set her of to release some anguish on you. Nagging is more from frustrations and if you ask her what it is that she would like you do, like chores (which both partners should have); you'll be able to reduce the nagging. 6) Half of smile You may think that you just did the best thing for her in the world and then you get the half of smile. This sometimes is overlooked because the man is so happy about the accomplishments that he has achieved, however, the half of smile is not happiness. The half of smile means that she isn't going to let it go in the future, but right now will appreciate your thoughtfulness. Later on, her true feelings will come out and there will be a fight. If you ever notice the half of smile, then you may want to ask her and assure her that it doesn't that much to you, but you just want them to be as happy as possible. As long as they are happy, you will be happy, and that means sometimes taking back the things that you put some thought into. 7) Finally, the behavior to have things coordinate This is often confused by men to be controlling. However, women just to have things match and look good because they are under a lot of pressure to dress well decorate the house well, and to make everything in their lives look perfect. Society puts a lot of pressure on women to be the ultimate homemaker and woman. If you just allow her to do her thing and not put up too much of a fight, you will find she will feel complete and you will be happy with a happy woman. These seven behaviors are mistaken everyday and now that you have seen things from the other side, you will be able to make your home a happy one. You will also find that your days will be filled with less arguments and more laughs. As a man, you'll find that the nagging will stop and your woman will feel a lot better about the relationship, because you'll seem to understand her more. I Have Rheumatoid Arthritis and My Doctor Has Told Me I Need to Go on Biologic Treatment

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Nathan_Wei] Nathan Wei The immune system is the bodys defense mechanism. It is capable of recognizing foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses, and destroying them. It does this through the process of inflammation. In inflammation, white blood cells are attracted to the area of invasion. The cells then are stimulated to release chemical messengers, called cytokines which help destroy the foreign invaders. The cytokine with the greatest importance in this process is tumor necrosis factor or TNF. The problem in diseases like rheumatoid arthritis is that the immune system can no longer distinguish between foreign invaders and the bodys normal cells. The immune system then begins to attack the body. TNF plays a significant role in this aberrant behavior. For a disease like rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammation affects the joints as well as other organ systems. Drugs that block the effects of TNF have been found to be very effective in reducing inflammation and in slowing down the rate of disease progression in rheumatoid arthritis. The first anti-TNF drug to be approved by the FDA in the United States was etanercept (Enbrel). This drug is actually a receptor protein that binds to circulating TNF and prevents TNF from stimulating white blood cells to produce more inflammation. It is given subcutaneously by the patient. Side effects include injection site reactions, an increased tendency for infections, rare blood cell effects, rare liver function test abnormalities, and rare neurological side-effects. Another anti-TNF drug is infliximab (Remicade). It is an antibody that is part human and part mouse protein. This antibody is directed against TNF and removes it from the system. Remicade is given intravenously. Side effects include infusion reactions (side-effects during the intravenous infusion), increased susceptibility to infection, and reactivation of tuberculosis. Some people begin to lose their response to Remicade over time. The third anti-TNF drug is adalimumab (Humira). This is a human antibody directed against TNF. It, like Enbrel, is administered subcutaneously by the patient. Side-effects are similar to that for Enbrel. Patients should be counseled about the potential side-effects of these drugs prior to administration. PPD skin tests to screen for tuberculosis are advised. A chest x-ray is also something to consider. Recent data suggests that PPD skin tests should be done annually in patients receiving anti-TNF therapy. These drugs work best when combined with methotrexate. There is increasing evidence that these drugs not only slow down the progression of RA but also reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes that may occur in these patients. Monitoring for side effects is important and a patient should be followed by an experienced rheumatologist. It should be mentioned that these drugs dont work for everyone. Nonetheless, they are a major advancement in our arsenal of weapons against rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Wei (pronounced way) is a board-certified rheumatologist and Clinical Director of the nationally respected Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center of Maryland. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and has served as a consultant to the Arthritis Branch of the National Institutes of Health. Just add suitable carrier oil into an essential oil that youve determined to be appropriate for your skin type. Massage the product into the dry areas of your skin. Repeat this periodically for as long as its needed. Is your problem sensitive skin? Allergies? We know that many things grossly irritate susceptible skin or add to the misery of skin allergies. If either of these conditions afflicts you, be very cautious of the aromatherapy skin and hair care products you choose. If you have a bad reaction to a product, whether it's store-bought or home-produced, terminate use. If you have never used any of these products and you're unsure how you will react to an essential oil, check it on a tiny spot first for a few days and see what develops. Sometimes we might use an aromatherapy creation expecting it to clear up a particular condition, and get no results. Its just as if we had used nothing. The obvious conclusion is that the products are not effective for the particular individual. If needed, seek advice from a professional on the best methods to progress. Best use of aromatherapy contents for skin and hair care Average skin: rose, lavender, or chamomile essential oils usually work well for normal skin. Dry or sensitive skin: chamomile is beneficial. Skin predisposed to acne or eczema: also benefit from chamomile. Do you use a fragrance-free face mask? include a number of drops of your selection of oils directly into the mask and utilize as intended. If you prefer, include your selection to your bathtub water. Acne? Whether juvenile or adult acne, this is a condition we are anxious to eliminate. Its good to know that aromatherapy can help. Tee tree and cajeput oils are used to treat acne. Combine these vital oils with grapeseed, high-quality carrier oil. You will be able to blend some drops with rose water to produce a toner. Can we do anything to erase signs of aging using aromatherapy for skin care? Sandalwood oil is capable of taking away a number of discernible indications of aging for example wrinkles and dried out skin. Rose oils, frankincense, neroli and geranium oils are in addition useful in treating older skin. Palmarosa oils are customarily used together in skin and hair care items. These oils contain moisturizing and hydrating properties and they encourage skin cell renewal. Used neat or mixed with carrier oil, the essential oils named above can be worked into skin or added to bathtub water. In addition blending essential oils into carrier oils, you might also mix them into creams and lotions that contain lanolin provided that these goods are without fragrance. Then just softly rub into skin. As soon as youve experienced over contact to the suns rays, rub affected areas using lavender or chamomile oils mixed with carrier oil. An excellent last wash for hair is a combination of apple cider vinegar, lemon essential oil and clear water. In a bottle mix 2 teaspoons vinegar, 3 drops lemon oil and 4 teaspoons water. Then work this solution into your hair and wash well. You're Not 125 Pounds - So Friggin What!

By Lisa Irby We live in a society that is completely weight obsessed, and it's really getting out of hand. When I created my fitness site, I had no idea it would generate such a large amount of e-mails from teens and young women who are literally obsessed with their weight. I'm not talking about the people who are indeed overweight and need to lose weight for health reasons. I'm talking about young ladies who are a healthy weight, but obsess over their bodies because they feel they aren't good enough. It's one thing to want to be fit and healthy, but it's another thing to obsess over it and tie your self worth to how much you weigh. What really made me realize how pathetic this world has become was when former supermodel, Tyra Banks was called "fat" because of her 20 pound weight gain. C'mon folks. If Tyra is being called fat by the media (when she's hardly not!), what are people who are bigger than Tyra supposed to think about themselves? And more importantly, what kind of message are we sending to young girls about what's acceptable? We are in a crisis. TV shows and magazines are teaching young women the standard on weight, and if they don't have role models to teach them otherwise, these messages become ingrained into their heads and it affects their self esteem. I love what Tyra Banks is doing with her "So What" Movement. It's teaching women to admit they have things they don't like about their bodies, but at the same time, don't obsess over it. Sure, you can workout to tone your body and lose weight, but you aren't unlovable or less beautiful just because you have some extra tummy flab or bigger thighs. Ladies, we have to be the ones that step up and learn to love ourselves for who we are. Because if you can't accept yourself, how do you expect other people to? It's OK to want to be in shape, take care of your body, etc. but it's not OK to compare yourself to someone else and think you are less of a person because of how much you weigh.
